We had a wonderful lunch with family at Joey's Newport Beach. We were met with a warm smile from Chaste, our server! She was so helpful, attentive, and energetic. She recommended the Katsu chicken salad, and it was divine! I recommend it with the cilantro ginger dressing though. Will be back for date night with the hubby for sure!
Had a blast here! Came at 11:30 am on Saturday. It was free champagne but we don't drink. Made a rezzy online. The vibes are so right here. Yes, it's not the cheapest place around but it's so worth it. I felt like I was in a fine dining restaurant at Gordon Ramsay's newest restaurant. Got PACKED by 12. We found parking right in front but be prepared to park farther away as there aren't that many spots. I love how you can see into the kitchen with open doors and an awesome atmosphere. We sat near the booths and everyone was so kind and friendly. Hats off to Oliva though. She was so amazing. Made us feel special and at home. Even when it was SUPER busy she stopped to chat with us about massages and what we're doing on this Saturday. This place is american with asian fusion. And man do they do a good job. Presentation is amazing. Food comes out on time and is seasoned perfectly! We spent around $200 for 3 people because we got: Sushi and Steak.. Amazing.. cooked mid rare Wings.. good good but I feel like we could have spent our money on something better crab cakes.. what do they put in that dressing/sauce? Basil and heavenly goodness Mediterranean bowl- mom didn't let us try any because it was so good POKE bowl- have to get it !! flavors were so unique, fish was fresh, awesome I got the Chilean sea bass and it was sweet, fall apart in your mouth, buttery, with the veggies and potatoes cooked perfectly. I wish we got desert but we were stuffed. Next time Olivia!
Came here for a birthday dinner, and the experience did not disappoint! The foods were flavorful and the steaks were cooked to perfection. The plating is very aesthetic as well. It's unaccustomed nowadays for me to say that the food looked as good as it tastes, but it definitely did here. A bit on the pricier side with smaller portions, but I expected that beforehand. The ambiance is just moderately upscale, yet casual, and gets very lively in the evening. The service was also attentive and I love how they offer free glasses of champagne upon arrival. Ordered: - Steak & Ravioli Bianco - Steak & Sushi - Joey Classic Steak - Butter Cake
Made a reservation the-day-of after reading Yelp reviews. Came at 5 pm on a Friday, so the happy hour crowd was still there and we waited a few minutes to be seated however they offered us a glass of sparkling wine as we waited. The hostess are very soft spoken so I recommend if you are waiting to be seated, always check with them: I had to in order to figure out if our table was ready. We got seated in a two chairs table that faced the kitchen; I really enjoy watching a kitchen work and this time it wasn't the exception!! Our waitress was very nice and offered us waters and took our cocktails order: classic old fashioned (made with Woodford) and a peach brûlée old fashioned -it was very good!- We wanted steak and I brought a bottle of wine, corkage fee was $30 bucks. We ordered the *Steak with crab cake: perfectly cooked to order, the cake wasn't dry and the steak was juicy, yet not under cooked. The salad paired perfectly. *Joeys steak : tasted as perfect as charcoal charred meat, temperature was on point, delicious! First time we tried the mashed potatoes... best way to describe them is like eating a spring roll filled with creamy mashed potatoes... nothing else to say! For desert we shared a butter cake with ice cream; I'd say was the weakest part of the meal, it was a OK butter cake but not like the best I've ever eaten... it had vanilla ice cream and some berry sauce. We still ate most of it! On the other hand, towards the end of the meal, the place had already gotten full and busy. Got a little louder with everyone talking but the music was not louder, that's great. All the tables around us were full and the waitress were very busy. However, despite the fact our waitress was new, she took care of us and was checking on us constantly. Can't wait to come back to try the happy hour!
I've been here a handful of times this year including my birthday celebration. Thus far, the food is solid and the service has been MOSTLY great. The servers are lovely and helpful and the manager I have encountered are also fantastic. (Our most recent visit, we had a guy who was very unavailable and things took much longer than it should have. We eventually had to flag down other people for things. By the time we got out of there, the mood was considerably dampened. But hopefully this was the one exception!) Depending on what you're looking for, this place is pretty lively most nights and even for lunch. It can get loud so be prepared or sit outside (they have very potent heaters). If you want something quieter, closer to closing time (as we discovered on our latest visit) is much calmer. As for the food... The steak and ravioli bianco is my jam. Just be aware that upgrading your steak bumps this dish up quite a bit. (A few of my dining companions ended up inadvertently ordering $70+ entrees lol.). My favorite combo which I treated myself to for my bday was upgrading to the New York steak. The steak was perfectly cooked and a pretty giant portion. So, worth it! The mini steak French dips and the hummus are two of my favorite apps here. If you're feeling cheeky, you could just order the mini steak French dips as a small entree! I also highly recommend the Katsu Chicken Salad. It's a great lunch option especially if you're looking for something protein-y and savory. Drinks: Pretty solid, haven't had a bad drink here. Hubby gets zero proof stuff and loves the She Pretty Dessert: Butter Cake There's no lunch menu here so it can get a little pricey for lunch but it's definitely a worthy splurge. Cheers!
I feel as if I have been baptized by this place. The excellent atmosphere, the delicious food, the wonderful prices, and the phenomenal service all combined to make me install Yelp to make this review. Stephanie needs to be promoted to CEO, and this place needs to be reviewed by Gordon Ramsay himself. Thank you for this amazing experience
Had a late lunch with the family on a seemingly busy Sunday afternoon. The food was exceptional, both my New York steak and mouth watering chocolate cake. better yet tho, our service made the experience all the while. We were first sat a table for four while we were a party of five. A little skeptical at first but we were greeted with such warmth and personality. Allie paid attention to my nephew and niece first and foremost which most servers tend to overlook as they are children. she took the time to note all three of my allergies and better yet put up with my pain of a brother who asked for a new dessert due to a small scratch on the plate. Overall, for a crowded cinco de mayo, we left with our bellies full and one of the best service experiences I've had in a while. I'll definitely be back on the days allie is serving.
Great happy hour with quick service and a relaxed upscale atmosphere. The restaurant was very clean inside and the ambience was polished, but not too formal for happy hour. Their drinks are double pours and $4 off, and the appetizers were fantastic. Our favorite was the chicken lettuce wraps - which our server said was the most popular item (for good reason!) crispy onions, peppers, tender chicken and a delicious sauce in crunchy lettuce, what more can you ask for. The truffle fries were heaped in what can only be described as the correct amount of Parmesan, with an aioli sauce and ketchup to dip in. They were crunchy, hot, and covered with cheese I would definitely eat them again. As a truffle fry connoisseur l would rank these in my top 5. The only let down was the gyoza, they weren't bad but I've had better at many other places. We really enjoyed this place and will be back, I recommend a spot at the gelato place across the street (bacio Di latte) the pistachio gelato was a fantastic end to the evening.
Went back here for our anniversary dinner. We had Lizzy as our server and she made the night very special. The food, the service, and the attention to detail was exceptional. We will definitely be back!
What an amazing high energy vibe! Super welcoming, great service, delicious drinks I ordered the spicy strawberry margarita! It's not on the menu! Delish! My second time here! Dress to impress! Think Fun! Appetizers- Spicy Salmon sushi and hummus beyond delicious! We ordered the NY steak- cooked to perfection seared juices I ordered shrimp lettuce wraps! Light and delicious! The Sea bass was wonderful my friends ordered! Everything was delicious and perfect! I recommend highly! Taylor was our excellent server extraordinaire!
